Systems - GridPoint Intelligence - Notification Guide
This article will guide you through setting up GridPoint Intelligence notifications with customers.

Logging In
If the customer has a GridPoint Intelligence account and is signed in, skip ahead to Setting Up Notifications.
The customer needs to have a GridPoint Intelligence login set up to access Notifications. If they do not have a GridPoint Intelligence account yet, they will need to reach out to the appropriate contact within their organization.
To login, they should navigate to https://energy.gridpoint.com/users/login and enter their login information.
If the customer has an account but cannot log in, they will need reset their password.
- To reset their password, they should select Forgot Password on the login screen.
- On the Reset Password page, the customer should enter the email address associated with their account and click Reset Password.
- After receiving the email with instructions to finalize resetting their password, the customer should be able to log in.
Setting Up Notifications
If customers call for assistance setting up notifications guide them to the Account page. From there, they will be able to select their preferred notification type(s).
Notification Types
There are three (3) different notification types:
- Refrigeration Notifications
- Temp warning no door normal
- Temperature above 45° for 45min. Door operation normal. This asset could be failing and costing you money. We suggest monitoring this asset, possible preventative maintenance or scheduling a service call from a refrigeration tech.
- Temp warning door left open
- Temperature above 45° for 45min. Door open over 10min or more at one time during this event. Having the door open over 10min at a time will negatively impact temperature.
- Temp warning no door normal
- Connectivity Notifications
- Controller Offline
- Asset offline for over 6hrs. Ensure there is power to the controller and a local internet connection. You may also try unplugging and plugging in controller to reset. If controller is still offline, contact GridPoint.
- Meter Offline
- Asset offline for over 12hrs. Ensure there is power to the meter and a local internet connection. If meter is still offline, contact GridPoint.
- Thermostat Offline
- Asset offline for over 12hrs. Ensure there is power to the Thermostat and a local internet connection. You may also try pulling off the faceplate and reinstalling to reset. If thermostat is still offline, contact GridPoint.
- Asset offline for over 12hrs. Ensure there is power to the Thermostat and a local internet connection. You may also try pulling off the faceplate and reinstalling to reset. If thermostat is still offline, contact GridPoint.
- Controller Offline
- HVAC Efficiency Notifications
- HVAC Underperforming
- Asset running suboptimal or poor for 5 days in a row and could be costing you money and sacrificing site comfort.
- HVAC Asset Failing
- Asset running poorly for 3 days in a row and has a higher risk of failure.
- HVAC Underperforming
Refrigeration Notifications
Connectivity Notifications
HVAC Efficiency Notifications
Additionally, the customer can choose to not receive any notifications. This choice can be changed later if desired.
Insight Type
Customers can also opt in to HVAC Efficiency and Connectivity Insights. These notifications can be set to deliver daily, weekly, or monthly.
Delivery Method
After selecting the desired notifications, the customer will need to select the Delivery Method for notifications.
- Email
- These will be emailed to the email address associated with the account.
- SMS (Text Message)
- The customer will need to enter the phone number that will receive the SMS notifications.
Sites
Once the customer has selected the desired notifications and delivery method, they will need to choose the site or sites that will generate notifications. They can choose individual sites or subsets of sites. These subsets are set up as folders on the Sites tab.
Accessing Notifications
If customers call for assistance finding notifications guide them to the Account page.
- When logged in to GridPoint Intelligence, hover over the Account icon (person silhouette in bottom left corner) and click Account.
- To access notifications from the Account page, click the bell icon located in the top right corner. If there are new notifications, the bell icon will be black with a blue dot. If there are no new notifications, the bell icon will be gray.

- Clicking on the Notifications icon will bring up a Notifications window. The notifications window has two views: All notifications and Dismissed notifications. Next to All notifications, a number will appear displaying the number of new notifications. New notifications will have bolded title text and a blue dot next to them.
- Clicking the “x” next to a notification will dismiss it. Dismissed notifications can be viewed in the Dismissed tab.
- Clicking on a Refrigeration, Connectivity, or HVAC Efficiency notification will bring the customer to the corresponding Asset.
- Clicking on an insight notification will bring the customer to the corresponding Insights dashboard.
Insights Dashboards
Customers can navigate to Insights dashboard directly from Insight notifications. There are currently notifications for two of the three insights dashboards. This section will cover:
- HVAC Efficiency Insights
- Connectivity Insights
HVAC Efficiency Insights
Clicking an HVAC Efficiency Insight notification will bring the customer to the Insights dashboard.
This dashboard displays the following:
- The date range (“View By” Day, Week, Month) and sites
- Defaults to the selections made on the Account page.
- “Status as of” date
- Number of assets
- Defaults to assets in the sites selected on Accounts page.
- Efficiency summary
- Number of assets with Poor, Sub-Optimal, and Optimal efficiency
- Hardware Efficiency by date graph
- Displays daily/weekly/monthly efficiency of a specific asset.
- Displays daily/weekly/monthly efficiency of a specific asset.
- Overrides by date graph
- Displays total override time during selected period.
- Displays override time by day.
- Assets and status
- These assets can be selected to view detailed daily/weekly/monthly efficiency.

- Clicking on the right-facing arrow will provide a detailed view of overrides done at the site asset.
Connectivity Insights
Clicking a Connectivity Insight notification will bring the customer to the Insights dashboard.
This dashboard displays the following:
- The date range (“View By” Day, Week, Month) and sites
- Defaults to the selections made on the Account page.
- “Status as of” date
- Number of assets
- Defaults to controllers in the sites selected on Accounts page.
- Connectivity summary
- Number of Offline or Online Controllers
- Connectivity by date graph
- Displays daily/weekly/monthly connectivity of a specific controller.
- Displays daily/weekly/monthly connectivity of a specific controller.
- Controllers and status
- These controllers can be selected to view detailed daily/weekly/monthly connectivity.
- These controllers can be selected to view detailed daily/weekly/monthly connectivity.
- Clicking on the right-facing arrow will provide a detailed view of connectivity for the selected controller.
