Update Your HVAC Setpoint Temperature in GEM

Learn how to update your temperature settings in GridPoint Energy Manager (GEM)

You can update your temperature settings, temporarily or permanently, using GridPoint Energy Manager (GEM).

Temporary Override

Log in to GEM from a browser or the GEM app for iOS or Android.

In Browser

  1. Select a site.
  1. Go to Control > HVAC.
  2. Select the HVAC unit(s) you want to override.

HVAC Tab includes the following information:

  • Occupied Times
  • Comfort Settings
  • Override Policy
    • The Override Policy shows how many degrees your setpoint can be adjusted and for how long
  • HVAC Health
 
  1. Click the red Override button.
  2. The following settings can be adjusted in Override:
    1. Heat Setpoint (SP): the desired temperature when heating a zone.
    2. Cool Setpoint (SP): the desired temperature when cooling a zone.
    3. HVAC Mode: toggle between Auto, Heat Only, Cool Only, and Off.
    4. Fan Mode: toggle between Auto and On.

  1. Select the dropdown in the Override column for the setting(s) you want to override.
    1. Overriding the Heat Setpoint up will make the zone warmer. Overriding the Heat Setpoint down will make the zone cooler.
    2. Overriding the Cool Setpoint down will make the zone cooler. Overriding the Cool Setpoint up will make the zone warmer.
    3. Overriding the HVAC Mode will allow for the following:
      1. Auto mode will change between heating and cooling when needed.
      2. Heat Only will prevent cooling mode (Cool SP) from turning on.
      3. Cool Only will prevent heating mode (Heat SP) from turning on.
      4. Off will turn off the HVAC system.
    4. Overriding the Fan Mode will allow you to place the fan in Auto mode or keep it running.
  2. Once you have selected the setting(s) you want to override, click the Save button.
  3. The changes should start to take affect shortly. Depending on the size of the zone being heated or cooled, it can take time for the desired temperature to be reached.
  4. If you feel that the desired temperature is not being reached, reach out to GridPoint Customer Support.

In App

  1. Select a site.
  1. Tap the HVAC tab.
  1. Select the HVAC unit you want to override.
  2. Tap the Override button (red square with line through it).
  1. The following settings can be adjusted in Override:
    1. Heat Setpoint (SP): the desired temperature when heating a zone.
    2. Cool Setpoint (SP): the desired temperature when cooling a zone.
    3. HVAC Mode: toggle between Auto, Heat Only, Cool Only, and Off
    4. Fan Mode: toggle between Auto and On
  2. Tap the + or - buttons to adjust set points up or down.
    1. Overriding the Heat Setpoint up will make the zone warmer. Overriding the Heat Setpoint down will make the zone cooler.
    2. Overriding the Cool Setpoint down will make the zone cooler. Overriding the Cool Setpoint up will make the zone warmer.
  3. Tap the < and > buttons to cycle between HVAC and/or Fan modes.
    1. Overriding the HVAC Mode will allow for the following:
      1. Auto mode will change between heating and cooling when needed.
      2. Heat Only will prevent cooling mode (Cool SP) from turning on.
      3. Cool Only will prevent heating mode (Heat SP) from turning on.
      4. Off will turn off the HVAC system.
    2. Overriding the Fan Mode will allow you to place the fan in Auto mode or keep it running.
  4. Once you have selected the setting(s) you want to override, tap the Save button.
  5. The changes should start to take affect shortly. Depending on the size of the zone being heated or cooled, it can take time for the desired temperature to be reached.
  6. If you feel that the desired temperature is not being reached, reach out to GridPoint Customer Support.

 


 

Permanent Setpoint Change

Note to permanently change HVAC setpoints or modes, you must have the appropriate authority granted by your employer. Reach out to your facilities contact for more information.

 

In Browser

  1. Select a site.
  1. Go to Control > HVAC.
  2. Select the HVAC unit(s) you want to edit.
  3. Click the black Edit button.
  1. The following settings can be adjusted in Edit:
    1. Heat Setpoint (SP): the desired temperature when heating a zone.
    2. Cool Setpoint (SP): the desired temperature when cooling a zone.
    3. HVAC Mode: toggle between Auto, Heat Only, Cool Only, and Off.
    4. Fan Mode: toggle between Auto and On.
    5. Occupied Times: the times when the site is occupied by site personnel and/or customers.
    6. Override Policy: the standard policy for overrides for the site.
  1. Once you have selected the setting(s) you want to edit, click the Save button.
  2. If you have any issues permanently updating any of these settings, reach out to GridPoint Customer Support.

In App

  1. Select a site.
  1. Tap the HVAC tab.
  1. Select the HVAC unit you want to edit.
  2. Tap the edit button (red square with line through it at the top left).
  1. You can edit the following by tapping the tabs at the top of the screen:
    1. Occupied setpoints and modes.
    2. Unoccupied setpoints and modes.
    3. Override policy.
  2. Once you have selected the setting(s) you want to edit, click the Save button.
  3. If you have any issues permanently updating any of these settings, reach out to GridPoint Customer Support.
