What is Optimal Start/Stop?
Optimal Start/Stop allows for early starting/stopping to ensure your HVAC units run at maximum efficiency while also maintaining comfort.
Optimal Start: Allows your HVAC to start early based on your schedule and comfort settings to allow maximum efficiency. This means your site is ready for employees and customers when the doors open. Without Optimal Start, your HVAC units need to expend more energy to obtain your desired comfort setpoint quickly. It takes less energy for HVAC unit to obtain a 2-degree change in temperature over 30 minutes than it is for that same unit to achieve a 2-degree change in 5 minutes.
Optimal Stop: Allows your HVAC to stop early while maintaining comfort. This means your site achieves the desired unoccupied comfort settings faster so you're wasting less energy on an empty site. Without Optimal Stop, your HVAC units will run up until the very minute that your site is occupied. As soon as the site kicks over to unoccupied, the HVAC units will kick off. This means your site will remain cooler/hotter long after the last person leaves your site. Easing into your closing time maintains a comfortable temperature while saving energy and costs. Closing times can of course be adjusted in your schedule or overridden for overnight work or holiday hours.
