Overview

Unlike the GridPoint Intelligence Admin page, which is used to replace existing equipment, the GridPoint Installer App is used to add new devices to sites. Accessing the Installer App will also help you navigate technicians through GridPoint Intelligence installations.

The GridPoint Installer App uses the same web address as GridPoint Intelligence Admin login. You will be provided with a separate installer-only login. To login follow these steps:

  • Navigate to https://energy.gridpoint.com/users/login in a different browser than you normally use to view GridPoint Intelligence Admin. You can also open an incognito window to do this.
  • Login with your installer-only login.
  • Once you are logged in, you will see the dashboard.

Dashboard

The Dashboard view is the default view after logging in to the Installer App.

  • New Installation: Allows you to begin a new install at an existing site.
  • Recently Viewed: All sites listed below the New Installation button are sites you have recently visited within the Installer App.

New Installation

  • This page allows you to search for and select sites to install new equipment. Use the search bar to type the company name, site number, or address.
  • If you have already selected a site previously, it will show up on the dashboard and be removed from the search results.

Pre-Install Tab

  • After selecting a site, you will be directed to the Pre-Install tab.
  • The Assets sub-tab includes currently installed assets at the site.
    • The testing icon shows up green if the HVAC data is present.
    • Probes can be added by clicking the three-dot icon next to an asset.
  • The Add Assets button will allow you to add new assets to the site. This will be covered in more detail later in this guide.

Pre-Install: Assets

When the installer first arrives, they are asked to complete a site audit.

  • All HVAC units must be tested and documented.
  • Click on the three-dot icon to run tests, view previous tests or remove a device.
  • The HVAC test page must be filled out when creating a new HVAC zone. The test page includes the following:
    • Baseline
    • Fan Mode
    • Supply Air Temp for Heating and Cooling
    • Pre-Existing Issues
    • Details
  • Click the Add Asset button to add the following devices:
    • HVAC
    • Refrigeration
    • Lighting

Add HVAC

Add Refrigeration

Add Lighting

  • Once you have added HVAC, it will show in the asset list.
    • The technician will now need to complete testing as shown above.

Pre-Install: Site Photos

  • As the installer tech completes the site audit, pictures will need to be added to each category under site photos.
  • As new devices are added, pictures need to be added once the device is physically installed.
    • Click the category and click Take Photo or Photo Library to upload images.
  • For items where there is no photo, there is a Photo Not Applicable option.
  • When all devices have been tested and images added, click Next Steps at the bottom of the tab.
    • Click Save & Close to save and come back to the install later.

Post Install Tab: Equipment

This tab allows installers to manipulate equipment. On this tab we can:

  • Add a controller.
  • View controller details.
  • View connection status.
  • View additional asset details with the three-dot icon.

Adding Equipment

  1. Click the three-dot icon next to a controller.
  2. Click the plus symbol next to the asset you want to add.
    1. Fill out the corresponding asset configuration.

Open each dropdown below to see steps for adding specific devices.

Add Meter

Add IOM

Add Photosensor

An IOM must be added before adding a photosensor.

Add Thermostat

  • Fill out all the information.
    • The HVAC zone you added in previous steps should be the only option available as other zones will already have thermostats assigned.
  • Click Add.
  • Once the thermostat is communicating with the controller, a green check or WiFi symbol (for thermostats set up as wireless) will appear next to it in the Post Install: Equipment Tab.
  • Additional options and details can be viewed by clicking the three-dot icon next to an AC zone with an installed thermostat.
  • Thermostat ZSMs, Duct Probes and Zone Door Sensors can be added and troubleshot from this menu.
    • Fill out the required info and click Save or Next.
  • ZSMs will require you to add the Control Strategy and determine which device controls the thermostat.
    • If you want the ZSM only to control the zone, you would select Single > ZSM Name.
    • If you want an average between the thermostat and the ZSM, select Average then select the devices to average.
      • Example Onboard & ZSM.

Add Wireless Duct Probe

Add Refrigeration Sensor

Refrigeration must be added before adding a sensor.

Add Lighting Connection

Lighting zones and IOMs must be added before adding lighting connections.

Completing Site Acceptance

  • All the devices and sensors must be in the green and communicating before you can continue.
  • Devices that are not communicating with the controller, will have a yellow exclamation point.
  • All outstanding issues will need to be resolved before continuing.
  • The red triangle with exclamation will open the window showing what is needed to resolve.
  • You can save and close the site, and the account will stay in progress status.
  • The site will be fully functioning with all devices that are green and communicating.
  • You will not be able to move the site to accepted status without resolving all outstanding issues.
  • Once all errors have been cleared, you will need to test the site.
  • Click Test.
    • You will get a pop-up message asking if all peripherals are installed.
    • The Equipment Test window will open.
  • A cool/heat test will need to be completed in all zones.
  • Once the testing has been completed, the site can be updated to accepted status.
